The Smile Rose was created in Thailand more then 18 years ago (around 1990) by villagers who usually assemble Buddhist Temple flowers and decorations.
The Corolla which is an old Japanese Origami art (folded paper) was available in all sizes and colors. Wire and Green sticky paper were to be found too. A designer co-ordinated a few ladies as part of developing new decorations, to hand cut the leafs and glue them on a small piece of wire(soon later a cutting mold was made and the leaves got their present form).
Then, the three components (Corolla, leaf & wire) were put together, bonded by the green paper. This process is still in use today. ...
The mini rose is now available at a few Sam Peng stores (a Bangkok market) and to order in China.
